Poker Hand Doyle Brunson 10 2
Most poker players would find little value in playing a trash hand like ten-deuce, however this hand has a bit of magic associated with it. While you might not believe in magic perhaps you can appreciate the Cinderella story associated with the poker hand now nicknamed the Doyle Brunson 10 2.

In 1976, the world series of poker was in its 7th year and Doyle Brunson who had a near 20 year history as a professional poker player that involved dodging police, murders and thieves was heads up at the final table of the $10,000 buy-in Main Event gunning for his first Main Event title. On the tournament’s final hand, Doyle Brunson was dealt ten-deuce of spades and called a preflop raise made by his opponent Jesse Alto. The flop came A-J-T with only one spade. Alto made a pot sized bet which Doyle mistakenly believed was designed to induce a fold. Doyle moved all in and was quickly called by Alto who had him in bad shape. Alto held A-J in his hand for top two pair. Amazingly, Doyle would suck out on this hand when the turn card was a deuce and the river was a ten. Just like that, Brunson went from being on the brink of elimination, to making a runner-runner full house which crowned him the World Champion of Poker.
In 1977, Doyle Brunson again found himself heads up at the World Series of Poker Main Event final table. This time his opponent Bones Berland held 8-5 and Doyle once again held the Doyle Brunson 10 2. Doyle thought he was in good shape when the flop came T-8-5 Rainbow, but he was actually behind to two pair. Both players slow played the flop, and when the turn was a deuce, Doyle took the lead in the hand, and the money went all in. The river card was eerily once again a ten, and so, in back to back years Doyle Brunson captured a WSOP Main Event title, making tens full of deuces while holding the Doyle Brunson 10 2.
Doyle Brunson went on to become a living poker legend, winning eight additional bracelets in WSOP side events over the years and a World Poker title. He also became a best-selling author with his books Doyle Brunson’s Super System paving the way for future poker players.
